MATCHES TO MAKE FOLLOWING UFC 212

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the eight years in promotional history last Saturday (June 3, 2017) with UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway. It was a good night of bits that saw nine of 12 bouts ending inside the distance, and with all the fights currently in our rear perspective, let’s look at some potential matchups featuring some of the opponents from the evening…
Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar
Holloway dethroned Jose Aldo to turn into new king at 145 lbs, and for his first official name defense, I think that it would make most sense for him to take on Frankie Edgar, as that is a matchup fight fans have been trying to see for a little while now. The other possible candidate for a title shot in Cub Swanson, but his last loss came in the hands of Holloway at a really decisive fashion. That is not a battle that peaks the interest of fight fans, as Holloway would be anticipated to be a massive favorite. The Edgar fight is one where anything could happen, so everybody would like to watch it. I think this potential featherweight title would are an excellent fit to primary event UFC 216 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Claudia Gadelha vs. Rose Namajunas
Gadelha made brief work of Poland’s Karolina Kowalkiewicz, beating her by rear-naked choke entry from the very first form of activity. She now enjoys a two-fight winning streak, and for her next excursion inside the Octagon, I would like to see her take on Namajunas at a title eliminator. Both fighters earned quick victories in their most recent bouts, so I would like to see them create a quick turnaround to co-main occasion August’s UFC Fight Night in Mexico City.
Brian Kelleher vs. Bryan Caraway
Kelleher earned a first-round guillotine-choke submission over veteran Iuri Alcantara in what had been a picture perfect promotional introduction for its 30-year-old, who used his post-fight speech to request a Top 10 ranked opponent for a fast turnaround on the upcoming Long Island card in July. I believe an opponent which makes sense is Caraway, that has not seen action as a split decision win over Aljamain Sterling just over one year ago. I believe this is a pairing which is reasonable for both fighters and would be a good fit anyplace on the Long Island card.
